I got this camera of mine from my uncle who is working in Canada. He said that it will be handy and useful for me. And indeed it is. I got this camera way back on August 2008 and I still use and treasure it up to now. The camera is color black.

Honestly I do not the exact price of this camera and I have no intention of knowing it. I appreciate the fact that it was given to me as a gift. But for the purpose of the writing I searched the price of the camera on the net. On the year that it was released (2008) my camera costs for 179 Pounds or approximately PhP 12, 351.

"Catch the next wave in mobile communications"
After the released of the first Samsung Wave, the company presented the successor called Samsung Wave II. This series was renamed into Samsung Wave S5253 or simply Samsung Wave525. These Wave Series were released together with Samsung Galaxy Series. The former being ran by BADA Operating System while the latter being ran by Android Operating System.
But what is new and special about Samsung Wave525? Is it worth buying?

Size
The size of Wave525 is 109.5 x 55.0 x 11.9 mm in length by width by height and it weighs 100 g.
Display
The screen size of Wave525 is 3.2” WQVGA and its resolution is 240 x 400 pixels. It is a full touch device; and it’s a user interface touch plus it has 3 keys for call functions and menu. Advanced TouchWiz UI makes your mobile experience more intuitive and easy. Enhanced homescreen can be customized up to 10 screens. Also advanced widgets such as daily briefing and buddies now let you access information directly.
Platform
Samsung Wave525 is run by Bada OS. This is a new and open source operating system developed by Samsung Electronics. It has a connectivity of GSM & EDGE Band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and GPRS Class 12 availability. Wave525 is also JAVA Platform supported plus an internet browser of Dolphin.
Battery
The battery of Wave525 is Li-Ion 1200 mAh. Talk time is up to 840 minutes. In addition, idle time is up to 1, 200 hours.
Memory
Wave525 has an internal user memory of up to 100 MB. It has a memory card slot where you can insert a memory card (MMC) to expand memory or MicroSD with memory of up to 16 GB. You can store up to 1, 300+ SMS, and phonebook entries up to the maximum memory.
Connectivity
There are many ways you can connect Wave525. The phone has available Bluetooth, USB, WAP and USB Mass Storage functions. SyncML (DS), SyncML (DM), WiFi, and GPS are also available in the phone. Lastly, the phone is internet browser and PC Sync supported.
Call functions
When it comes to call functions, Wave525 has speakerphone available to it. It also supports Caller ID which tells who the caller is, Call cost which tells how much the call cost, Call time which tells how much time is consumed, and multiparty call functions which make you able to call up to six (6) persons at the same time. Dialed/ Missed/ Received Calls functions are also available in the phone. By these, you can see who the last person you dialed, who tried to call you, and the persons from whom you received calls.
Messaging
Because Filipinos are fond of sending messages, Wave525 has several functions to support this. It is SMS, MMS, Instant Messaging and Email supported. Available also in the phone are predictive text input T9, cell broadcast and vCard/ vCalendar functions. Also, it has pre – installed social hub where you can connect and see what your friends are doing – in Facebook and Twitter.
Camera
Wave525 comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with a 2x digital zoom. You can select a shooting mode from single to smile shot to continuous to panorama to mosaic to frame. Also, you can choose from black and white to sepia to negative effects plus white balance modes are available. Photos taken can be edited within the phone itself. Video recording, video player, and video streaming functions are also available in the phone.
Music & Sound
Wave525 is supported with a music player, 3D sound technology, and music library and can be inserted with a 3.5mm audio jack. Ringtones (64 polyphonic) and MP3 ringtones are available. Sound quality is attuned to genre so you can enjoy the highest audio fidelity whether you listen to classical, jazz or rock. True-to-life sound quality through Sound Alive offers you various 3D sound effects and Music Recognition function helps you identify new songs and purchase them directly to the mobile.
Business & Office
Wave525 comes with document viewer application that supports the usual office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Aside from these, the phone has a PDF viewer. Mobile printing function is also available where you can directly print pictures from the phone. It has offline mode function that can be used when having air travels. Voice memo and voice support are also available.
Fun & Entertainment
Wave525 has pre – installed and embedded JAVA Game and wallpapers. It is also FM Radio, FM Radio Recording, and FM Radio RDS supported so you can listen to the local Radio stations anywhere and anytime you want as well as you can record the currently playing station. Mobile Tracker application is also available in it plus a pre – installed samsungapps store where you can see and download hundreds of thousands of applications.
Personal Information Management
There are other functions and applications that come with Wave525. Some of these are calendar, scheduler, task list, clock, world time, alarm, calculator, memo book, stop watch, and countdown timer. Wave525 has all of these supports.
Price
When I bought my brand new Samsung Wave 525 last March, it cost around Php 7, 000 but last week, it now costs around Php 5, 000 only. If you’re going to buy one, you should receive the phone itself, its box, a user manual, a 3.5 mm ear jack, a USB cable, and of course, your receipt.
Recommendations
Using it for about 8 months now, I can say that Wave525 gives a superb experience. With just an affordable price, you would have a phone and a camera in one. It’s very useful whenever and wherever I am. I can even do multitasking plus, it has functions and applications that are up to date. Lastly, it would not just serve to communicate but also to entertain you. So what are you waiting for, try Samsung Wave525 now and experience the next wave in mobile communications.
